Conservation Connection in Iraq

Long time Columbus Audubon member and birder, Major Randel Rogers, recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.  While there, he not only became the unofficial naturalist for his unit, but also an active advocate for conservation in this rapidly changing country.

We are pleased to provide Randy's description of how he became involved in conservation in Iraq; it makes for fascinating reading.  In addition, Randy published a nature newsletter called "Al-Asad au Natural" for his colleagues, and has graciously agreed to share it with Columbus Audubon Web site readers.  Finally, if you want to support Randy's conservation efforts, you can do so through the Ohio Ornithological Society.

We plan to keep you informed of progress in Randy's efforts, so please check back here frequently.
