Attacking the Migratory Bird Treaty Act

Baltimore Oriole - Photo Earl HarrisonLast week, Rep. Duncan (R-SC) offered an amendment to the Commerce Appropriations Bill to prohibit enforcement of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). While there seems to be little appetite to include the Duncan amendment in the Senate version of the bill, and the White House has issued a veto threat, Audubon still needs your help to stop this “bird killing amendment.”

Please contact your Senators (in Ohio, Sens. Brown and Portman) to voice your opposition to the Duncan MBTA amendment and urge the Senate to keep it out of their version of the bill.

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act is one of our country’s most important tools to protect the birds that we love.
