Trifecta of Owls: 30 March 2019
The Avid Birders find owls and more on the first trip of the spring
Clear skies, temperatures in the 70’s, a common longing for shorebirds….what could be a better combination for an Avid Birders trip? Maybe some more birds?
The Avid Birders head for the hills: the hills of Shawnee State Forest, where our group surveyed breeding birds to help assess the effects of clearcutting. The day didn’t end there, though.
The Avid Birders head south by southwest to explore Fernald Nature Preserve, a Cincinnati park, and long-time favorites Caesar Creek and Deer Creek.
In a double break with tradition, the Avids met at 6:00 am at the Denny’s/Flying J in Millersport, heading for the wilds of Harrison County in search of the Common Raven.
