The Avid Birders of Columbus trekked south today. We had several highlights, the first occurring this morning at Shawnee just after entering the forest on Pond Run Rd. We all had wonderful looks at a GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER. In all the group had 20 species of warblers. We then moved on to Adams Co. where we searched Cummins Rd. with hopes of an early Blue Grosbeak. That did not happen, but, while birding the bridge area at the start of Cummins Rd. we had a flyover of a NORTHERN GOSHAWK. On the way back most cars stopped at Calamus Swamp. Two members of our group continued on south and they will report separately any good sightings that they had!
