The “Swans and Coots” Birdathon day was special and eventful for our team: Omie Warner, Katryn Renard, Paul Knoop, Bruce Lindsay, Alan Cohen, and Clyde Gosnell. The team is a great group of birders with skills of ID by song, habitat, and individual features.
The day was mild, 68 degrees, and the birds were singing their hearts out – so in 5 hours we observed and recorded 67 species, a total that includes several special warblers. Some of highlights were Blue-winged, Golden-winged, Hooded, Cerulean, Redstart, Cape May, Yellow, Common Yellowthroat, Black & White, Nashville, Tennessee, Louisiana Waterthrush, Black-throated Green, Blackburian, Pine, Chestnut-sided, and Northern Parula warblers. Our birding event took place in Hocking County and at several locations: Mathias Grove forest and wetland; Clear Creek Metro Park; Lake Logan; and the Primmer Nature Preserve and Wetland near Logan.
A glorious event with a great cause being a fund raiser for Columbus Audubon. We thank all of our donors and supporters for your “Caring and Sharing”…
