Plastics are great things for a lot of reasons and a lot of uses. But plastic can be a problem, and even a death sentence, for birds. Birds get tangled — and even strangled — in plastic strings, ribbons, and lines. Birds mistakenly eat plastic and sicken or even die as a result. Plastics and birds just don’t mix.
But it’s easy to cut back on plastic, especially on those little “here and there” bits that aren’t really important. (After all, we’re not so worried about the plastic dashboard in your car: birds won’t try to eat that!) The Audubon Web site has a great article on how to reduce your own use of plastic and, dare we say, have fun doing so. Check it out here.
