EcoWeekend Thanks 2018

By Maura Rawn

THANK YOU to all who joined us at our 46th year of EcoWeekend! We had a record number of registrants this year – 190! – and our camp liaison Rick Perkins did a great job with accommodating our ever-growing event. With Rick’s cooperation and support, EcoWeekend offered local Snowville Creamery milk, locally-raised beef, and bird-friendly coffee! We are taking the “Eco” in EcoWeekend seriously!

We had many new program leaders this year who are experts and enthusiasts in their fields of interest, bringing us new knowledge and new experiences. And our returning program leaders are always much appreciated and requested year after year. We had 21 new adventures to choose from in our 53 program offerings.

The little bit of rain we experienced did not dampen our spirits – we are nature lovers, after all!

We want to give a SHOUT OUT to Liz Melick! EcoWeekend was the recent recipient of a donation from the Columbus Natural History Society, honoring Liz Melick, who has been a long-time participant, as well as Committee Member, of EcoWeekend. The cover letter with this donation says that “Liz is a treasure” and we could not say it any better! Congratulations, Liz, and thank you for generously choosing to support EcoWeekend.

We’d also like to THANK Meijer Lancaster for their continued support of EcoWeekend with their generous annual donation to our Youth Program snacks since 2016.

It is our Program leaders, Youth leaders, Committee members and our participants, young and old, that make EcoWeekend the unique and wonderful family nature retreat that it is. Plan to join us May 3-5, 2019 – mark your calendars! Registration will open in early February 2019.
