Columbus Audubon notes with sadness the passing of Bill Thompson III. Bill (or “BT3” to many of us) had a huge influence in the birding community in Ohio and across the country. Publisher of Bird Watchers Digest, Bill also was a founding member of the Ohio Ornithological Society, not to mention an active tour leader. Yet Bill always seemed to have time to chat about birds, show birds to others, and generally indulge a deep passion for birds and bird conservation. He will be deeply missed by his many friends in the central Ohio birding and conservation communities.
