The keynote speaker this year’s Ohio Avian Research Conference is Dr. Robert Mauck of Kenyon College.  Dr. Mauck researches seabirds with a focus on Leach’s Storm-Petrels and co-wrote the species account for Leach’s Storm-petrels for the Birds of North America series.  Additionally he served as Director, Bowdoin Scientific Station at Kent Island near Brunswick, Maine.

Prior to joining academia he was a smoke jumper in Alaska and an assistant coach to an American Football team in Italy. You can see his rather remarkable history at the Kenyon College Web site.

The sixth annual Ohio Avian Research Conference will be held on Saturday, October 20th at Denison University’s Samson-Talbot Biological Building in Granville, Ohio.

Watch for additional conference news and announcements in the coming months.
