I presided over my first Columbus Audubon meeting as board president this week. I follow in the footsteps of many people who have gone before me. For over 100 years Columbus Audubon has been a leader in this community for the conservation of birds and other species. I am honored to follow so many leaders that have come before me. I wish that could mention them all as it is quite an impressive list!
As I look forward to leading this organization the two words that come to my mind are partnership and collaboration. We are always stronger together and we are very fortunate to have so many wonderful partners to work with. Grange Insurance Audubon Center is a clear and strong partner and I look forward to working closely with Dawn and her staff and volunteers to further the mission of both organizations. Much work has been done at the Center to enhance the habitat for birds with native plants and habitat restoration. The exciting thing about this is that it is something we can all do for birds and other wildlife and even small improvements to habitats can make a big difference in our world.
As I look out on the snow I know that spring will be here soon and we can look forward to a bounty of our feathered friends and beautiful flowers to fill our lives and enrich our souls once again. Please put the Columbus Audubon monthly meetings on your calendar, the last Tuesday of the month through April at the Center. The speakers are engaging and the company is great and always of kindred spirit.
Thanks for all you do to make our world a better place.
