One helpful step is to give the skunk fair warning. Stomp your feet, clap your hands, and turn the porch light on and off to allow the skunks leave your yard before letting your pets outside. Also, keep your pets on a leash so that they don’t run out to try to challenge a skunk.
Some people try to have skunks trapped and removed. But if you have a skunk trapped, it will likely be killed and another skunk will move in to fill the gap. It’s best for all of us to take a few precautions and learn to live in harmony with our striped visitors!
