As you prepare for one or more Christmas Bird Counts this month, you might wonder about the results of last year’s CBCs. Wonder no more! Information on the 115th annual CBC is available on the Audubon Web site. You’ll find all sorts of interesting tidbits, including lists of counts with more than 100 participants and over 150 species (yes, we’re jealous) and even a list of high counts by region (in Ohio, it’s Toledo).
By the way, that picture to the left? You aren’t likely to find that bird on a CBC in Central Ohio. It’s the first confirmed record of a Eurasian Goldfinch, found on the Unalaska, Alaska count last year.
