September Monthly Program: People Who Called Ohio Home
Join us for our 2026 – 2027 in-person Monthly Program series in partnership with and located at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center on Tuesday September 22, 2026.
Come explore this land before we became known as the United States of America and Ohio. There is a rich history to be explored of the relationships and human dynamics that developed as people started moving into this part of our country.
Guest speaker Carl Gleditsch will discuss the people who called Ohio home. Join us as we explore the history of this land before it became known as the United States of America and the state of Ohio, and discover the rich history that unfolded for the early peoples in this region. Arrive at 6:30pm to participate in the bird quiz, draw a door prize ticket, and enjoy refreshments. We will begin the Monthly Program at 7:00pm with a Conservation Spotlight by Ryan Foshee on environmental movements and the Clintonville Green Team’s neighborhood-wide effort. The Featured Presentation will begin immediately following the Conservation Spotlight. Winners for the door prize and bird quiz will be announced after the presentations.
Carl Gleditsch is a Wildlife Biologist and Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist. Gleditsch has given talks around Ohio on all things nature, including birds, bird conservation, bird migration, native bees, native plants etc. In an effort to gain more information concerning human history in Ohio, Carl became a Dublin Heritage Interpreter and has been studying human history in Ohio for the past five years.

6:00 – 7 pm – Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony, Bird Quiz, Door Prize Raffle drawing and refreshments
7 pm – Guest speakers Russ Gibson, John Shady, and Mark Dilley will discuss improvements at Calamus Swamp followed by an Audubon update by Leigh Ann Miller, the Ohio director of Grange Insurance Audubon Center and Aullwood Audubon.
8 pm – Winners Announced for Door Prize and Bird Quiz
