Bluebirds and Cemeteries

Bird conservation projects can span states, regions, and even continents. But sometimes the most memorable projects are local ones that bring us together, in which we make new friends…and memories. Columbus Audubon member Carla Hall reminded us of the power of conservation when she shared this article with us. Carla writes: “The following article was written by my mother, Lolita Guthrie. Dad passed away this spring, having lived a very full 90 years and enjoying 66 years of marriage. A bluebird box was recently erected on a fencepost close to Dad’s burial spot in Sergeant Cemetery in Liberty Township, Wood County, by his son and son-in-law.”

Hoover Reservoir/NP: May-June Update

June at Hoover Reservoir/Nature Preserve was a mixed bag. The water level was very high which caused migrating shorebirds to overfly the area; however the songbirds were to be found in good numbers throughout the forested and grassland areas. Throughout May there was a presence of wood warblers although there was never what could be called a big wave, more like a constant dribble.
