Walking in Nature Changes the Brain

For those not quite convinced, an article in the New York Times Health section reports that walks in nature, even a simple stroll in a park “…may soothe the mind and, in the process, change the workings of our brains in ways that improve our mental health.” Previous research has indicated that being in natural settings contributed to health; this new study looks in more detail at the physiological changes and mechanisms associated with stress reduction.
