Blackhand Gorge – Trail work
October 12, 9 am – 3 pm
Blackhand Gorge is famous for its geological features, history, and legends. Here you will see impressive sandstone cliffs, oak-hickory mature wood, prehistoric petroglyphs, remnants of Ohio & Erie Canal, old quarries, bluff overlooking the Licking River, and much more.
A four-mile bike trail crosses the preserve and needs some maintenance. During this work trip we will be removing woody vegetation on both sides of the trail to improve clearance. We will use hand saws and pruners to cut stems and drag them away from trail. Tools will be provided. You need to bring your lunch, water, work gloves and appropriate foot gear. Contact us to sign up. Further information will be sent to the registered volunteers.
